A
transfer plan called the 'Two Plus Two Plus Two' makes it
easy for community college students working on an associate
degree to prepare for transfer into Iowa State's community
and regional planning department.
Take
two Iowa State courses--C R P 253, Survey of Community
and Regional Planning, and C R P 270, Forces Shaping Our
Metropolitan Environment --while you complete a two-year
associate degree. Then transfer into the Iowa State Department
of Community and Regional Planning and complete a bachelor's
in as little as two years.
The
Iowa community colleges that have signed the agreement are
Des Moines Area Community College, Hawkeye Community College,
Indian Hills Community College, Iowa Central Community College,
Iowa Lakes Community College, Iowa Valley Community College
District, Kirkwood Community College, Northeast Iowa Community
College, North Iowa Area Community College, Southeastern
Community College, and Southwestern Iowa Community College.
Community and regional planners assess the socio-economic
and physical environments of communities and plan for their
future. About two-thirds of ISU community and regional planning
graduates work in local, state, or federal governments or
for regional planning councils. An increasing number pursue
graduate studies in planning or related fields.
Transfer
in up to 65 credit hours in communications, humanities,
mathematics, natural sciences, social sciences, design,
and electives. Complete an additional 66.5 credits at Iowa
State.
