Master of Public Administration (MPA)

In Iowa via videoconferencing and media streaming

Prepare for leadership in public service—whether government, nonprofit agencies, or private organizations working with governments. The MPA program has
-- Cutting-edge, research-based information relevant to public service
--Opportunity to build the skills necessary for tomorrow’s public leaders
--Flexibility in curriculum and delivery method based on personal interests and needs

Tailor the program by selecting an area of concentration
---
eGovernment and management of information technology – learn how to leverage information technology to make your organization more efficient.
---Public Management – master human resources and financial management skills and develop your leadership abilities.
---Policy Analysis – apply public administration and public policy concepts to evaluate the effectiveness of public programs.

The program totaling 37 credits includes core and methods courses central to both the theory and practice of public management, a concentration area for specialization, and a creative component.

Iowa State's master of public administration program has received accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration. The program is the only NASPAA-accredited program in Iowa.

Certificate of Public Management
The certificate program is designed to improve or refresh your skills. If you are an active public administrator or have a graduate degree in another area, this program can add essential public management skills.

The 15-credit graduate study program includes at least nine credits from core and methods courses. The remaining six credits are selected from a list of electives. To enter the certificate program, you must be accepted into the Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree program. All courses taken towards the certificate may be applied to the MPA without further admissions requirements.
