Introduction to the protocol architecture of the data link
layer, network layer and transport layer for wireless networking.
Operation and management of Medium Access Control in wireless
Local Area Networks; recent developments in 802.11 and Bluetooth;
mobile IP; mobile TCP; Wireless Application Protocol.
Course Topics:
1. Introduction of wireless networking and its application
2.Wireless Local Area Network protocol: MAC operation; MAC
management
3. Mobile Internet protocol
4. Mobile transmission control protocol
5. Advanced topics in IEEE 802.11
Prerequisite: credit or enrollment in Cpr E 489 (Computer
Networking and Data Communications) or Cpr E 430/530 (Advanced
Protocols and Network Security)
