You
may take continuing education courses at DMACC, on site
at other locations, via the Iowa Communications Network,
online, and by videotape, without completing an admissions
form. Simply complete the continuing education registration
form.
Undergraduate
Adult students at Iowa State have a high success rate due
to their motivation and maturity, and this is taken into
consideration when applications are reviewed. We encourage
you to apply for admission even if you think you dont
meet the following general guidelines:
graduate in the upper half of your high school class
or achieve a satisfactory ACT composite score or SAT combined
verbal and mathematics score; or
complete at least 24 semester credits of graded transferable
coursework from a regionally accredited college or university
with at least a C (2.00) average; or
earn a GED certificate, with scores at the fiftieth
percentile or higher.
Graduate
Admission requirements vary by degree program. Contact the
Office of Admissions
100 Alumni Hall
(515) 294-5836 or
(800) 262-3810
admissions@iastate.edu
or the college office to learn of entrance requirements
and application procedures.
Coming
back to ISU
If you have previously enrolled as a student at Iowa
State but were not enrolled during the most recent academic
term (excluding summer), contact the Office of the Registrar
(515) 294-1889 or by e-mail isuregis@iastate.edu
to activate your file.
Academic
Renewal
If you are returning to ISU to pursue an undergraduate
degree after an extended absence, you may request permission
to remove one or more of your academic terms from future
degree and GPA considerations. To be eligible, you must
not have enrolled at ISU for five or more consecutive years,
must not have graduated from ISU, and must be in good academic
standing or reinstated. For more information and a renewal
petition, visit the ISU Academic
Renewal Policy site.
How
to apply
Call or send an e-mail to the admissions office for
an application, or you can pick up an application from the
office on campus. Decide which form you want:
Undergraduate degree application--if you plan to
begin work toward an Iowa State bachelors degree
Graduate degree application
Nondegree student application--if you wish to take
courses but do not plan to work toward a degree from Iowa
State at this time.
Applications are available on the ISU
Admissions Web site.
You
may apply up to nine semester hours of graduate credit earned
under the nondegree option toward a graduate degree. Check
with your department to determine if work taken in nondegree
status fits in your graduate program.
Complete
the appropriate application form and return it to the Office
of Admissions. If you are applying as a degree candidate,
a fee is required with your application. (Nondegree applications
do not require a fee.)
